Kara will be teaching yin yoga and yin/yang yoga. Here is her description of Yin Yoga: Yin Yoga is a practice of long-held floor postures which target the meridian pathways of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the chakra system of Yoga Philosophy. Holding stable, supported postures for an extended period of time with the muscles relaxed allows the deep connective tissues to be gently stretched. Pranayama (breath control) and awareness techniques enhance the harmony of Chi/Prana in the subtle energy systems of the body. Some who enjoy this nourishing practice refer to it as “mellow yoga”.
Her Yin/Yang classes are described as combining the restorative practices of Yin Yoga with the energizing affects of an active, vinyasa flow practice. Yang postures generate heat and strengthen the muscles, bringing the prana (vital force) up and out to the periphery of the body. Yin practice of long-held floor postures draws the subtle energy down and in, targeting the strength and pliancy of the deep structural connective tissues of the body. This holistic practice leaves people feeling both relaxed and recharged.
We are very excited to be able to bring you and to experience Kara’s special approach to yoga. She has her 200 hour RYT certification and will be teaching Thursdays at 5:30-7:00p. Kara will also be presenting longer intensives once or twice a month on Saturdays. Check the calendar, as the Saturday classes will be posted as we settle into the dates.
